Lee Hunt has spent 35 years painting with oils using a style and
technique refined to the perfection you'll see in her online
gallery.
For the last 20 years, Lee has been painting on smooth finished
canvas, a technique pioneered by American
Master Dalhart Windberg. Painting on such a surface is more
difficult than on regular rough canvas, but allows for more detail
and realistic "picture-like" effects. Close examination of her
landscape art reveals Lee's trademark: a
ghost or shadow hidden within the larger image.
Commissioned portraits are Lee's
specialty. Known for her lifelike renderings, she has received
commissions from around the world. She has also accepted
charitable commissions, including a series of seven-foot religious
paintings for Our Redeemer Church in Greenville, South Carolina, and
her most notable portrait, that of Red Cross founder
Clara Barton. A print of Lee's Shroud portrait traveled with a
Shroud of Turin Expo founded by Dr. John de Salvo of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lee also dabbles with oil restorations,
architectural drawings, sculpture repair, dollhouse miniatures and
children's story writing and illustrations.
